CREATIVE ENDEAVORS

Film Producer/Director
Graduated from Hollywood Film Institute as a producer. Have produced one film trailer for Blueprint for Desire and one DV Short Whack, which was selected for showing at New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. First feature length movie Blueprint for Desire to begin shooting when financing in place. For more details, view In The Works.

Screenwriter
Seven feature and four short screenplays completed. Very versatile and can write to specs in various styles and budgets. One in progress. See Writing Resume.

Playwright
Total of ten plays completed. Four of them (Borderline Crazies, and co-written with the late Jack Sharkey: Sorry! Wrong Chimney!; Star on the Door; and 100 Lunches) have been published wtih Samuel French, Inc. and have been produced by both amateur and professional theater companies across the US, Canada, London, and the Netherlands. Sorry! Wrong Chimney! has been translated into Dutch. See Writing Resume.

Actor (SAG)
Accomplished as both a stage and film actor. Began acting in 1964 at Leavenworth High. Acted in several feature films, one commercial, and community theater and dinner theater productions. Member of Screen Actors Guild, and currently represented by Kathy Muller Talent and Modeling Agency in Honolulu. See Acting Resume, which also includes headshot.

Stage Director
Have directed 65 plays in high schools, community theaters, and dinner theaters. See Directing Resume.

Stage Producer
Have produced 90 plays within community high schools and dinner theater.

IN THE WORKS

Play It Cool - A comedy about two servicewomen who are stationed at the South Pole as part of a government experiment. (A play in progress).

The Red Button - A "Twilight-Zone" style comedy short will be filmed in January 2005.

Blueprint for Desire - A feature-length drama to be shot in DV in filmlook style. The story is about a young architect who becomes obsessed with a topless dancer and how it screws up his life. Will produce and direct this movie, which is being shot for cable TV and video market. Will either be low budget and shot in twelve days, or no budget and shot on weekends. Accepting resumes for cast and crew members. See Blueprint for Desire Cast Breakdown.

Belize - A feature-length drama set in Belize about two young women in their early twenties who search for and find romance and adventure. (In development).

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION - LEO W. SEARS

Leo W. Sears - Playwright, screenwriter, film producer, film director, stage actor, SAG actor, play director, play producer, retired educator. Written ten plays; four plays, 100 Lunches, Sorry Wrong! Chimney!, Star on the Door, and Borderline Crazies have been produced by professional and amateur theaters across the US, Canada and in London; Sorry Wrong! Chimney! has also been translated into Dutch; has written nine screenplays; his screenplay Serpent in Paradise was a finalist in the 2003 Great Lakes Film Festival screenplay competition; short screenplay Roadkill has made the first 100 out of 978 entered in the American Gem Short Screenplay Competition; DV Short Whack was produced and directed by Mr. Sears in December 2003/January 2004, with post completed in March 2004, and selected for showing at New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in November 2004; Blueprint for Desire and Belize are in development; acted on stage and on screen, directed 65 plays and produced 90; in 1990 was part-owner of Arizona Talent and Modeling Agency; 1988-1990 was thoroughbred racehorse onwer; ex-marine Vietnam veteran, earning two Purple Hearts; graduate of Arizona State University, 1975; Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities, 1975-76; corporate secretary for Phoenix Jaycees 1980-81; vice president of 1982 Jaycee National Convention; founded and owned Metro Playhouse theater company from 1983-91; Who's Who Worldwide 1995; graduate of Hollywood Film Institute; board of directors of Arizona Screen Actors Guild, 1995; inclusion in 2000 Outstanding Writers of the 20th Century; retired high school teacher of theater, speech and English; member of Screen Actors Guild, Dramatists Guild and Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers; president of Big Kahuna Productions; Presently working to establish Big Island Film Festival for Spring 2006.
