Creative Endeavors


Film Producer

Graduated from Hollywood Film Institute as producer.  Have produced one film trailer and two videos.  First feature length movie Blueprint for Desire to begin shooting in October.  See details in In the Works.

Screenwriter

Seven screenplays completed.  Very versatile and can write to specs in various styles and budgets.  One in progress.  See Writing Resume.

Playwright

Total of ten plays completed.  Three of them (Sorry!  Wrong Chimney!, Star on The Door and 100 Lunches), co-written with the late Jack Sharkey, have been published by Samuel French, Inc. and have been produced by both amateur and professional theater companies across the US, Canada, London and the Netherlands.  Sorry!  Wrong Chimney!  has been translated into Dutch.  See Writing Resume .

 

Actor (SAG) 

Accomplished as both stage and film actor.  Began acting in 1964 at Leavenworth High.  Have acted in several feature films, one commercial, community theater and dinner theater.  Member of Screen Actors Guild.  Represented by Kathy Muller Talent and Modeling Agency in Honolulu.  See Acting Resume , which also includes headshot.

 

Stage Director

Have directed sixty-five plays at high school, community and dinner theater.  Scheduled to direct Murder at the Howard Johnson’s in July, 2002 and Sorry! Wrong Chimney! in December, 2002 for Waimea Community Theater.  See Directing Resume .

 

Stage Producer

Have produced 90 plays in high school and dinner theater.

In the Works


*  Borderline Crazies - a play in progress is a comedy about two couples trapped in a cabin at Lake Tahoe.  Tentatively scheduled for production by Waimea Community Theater in October, 2003.

 

*  Blueprint for Desire – Feature length drama to be shot DV in filmlook style.   The story tells about a young architect who becomes obsessed with a topless dancer and how it screws up his life.  Will produce and direct this movie, which is being shot for cable TV and video market.  Will either be low budget and shot in twelve days or no budget and shot on weekends.    Accepting resumes for cast and crew members.  See Blueprint for Desire Cast Breakdown.

*   Belize – Feature length drama set in Belize about two young women in their early twenties who search for and find romance and adventure.   In development.

Biographical Information – Leo W. Sears


Playwright, screenwriter, film and stage producer, actor, film and stage director, retired educator.  Born February 21, 1948 in Atchison, Kansas has written ten plays and seven screenplays (see writing resume); has another movie in preproduction and one in development;  has written ten plays, three of which have been published by Samuel French and produced across the US, Canada, London and Amsterdam  (see writing resume);  accomplished actor who has  acted on stage and screen and is member of Screen Actors Guild (see acting resume);  has directed 65 plays and produced 90.  Ex-marine Vietnam Veteran, wounded twice in combat; graduate of Arizona State University, December 1975;  Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, 1975-76;  Corporate Secretary for Phoenix Jaycees 1980-81;  Vice President of 1982 Phoenix Jaycees National Convention;  founded and owned Metro Playhouse theater company from 1983-91; Who’s Who Worldwide 1995;  president of Big Kahuna Productions;  graduate of Hollywood Film Institute;  board of directors of Arizona Screen Actors Guild 1995;  member of Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers:  retired high school teacher;  presently resides in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
